A Versatile Outfit for Different Barbie Dolls
The jumper features an expandable waistline, allowing the same outfit to fit several different Barbie body styles. Instead of making the fashion for only one doll, I wanted a design that could move from doll to doll while still looking great.
I've used this jumper set with Barbie Fashionistas, modern Barbie dolls, vintage Barbie dolls and Silkstone Barbie dolls. I love being able to take one handmade outfit and see how different it looks on dolls from different eras and collections.
One Outfit, Different Barbie Looks
One of the challenges of collecting Barbie dolls is that body styles and proportions have changed over the years. That's also part of what makes sewing for Barbie so interesting.
An adaptable waist gives this jumper more flexibility than a tightly fitted doll outfit. Depending on the doll, the fit and overall silhouette can change slightly, giving the same fashion a different personality.

For doll collectors who enjoy changing displays and redressing their dolls, versatile clothing can be especially useful. One little outfit can become part of several completely different Barbie looks.
